The project

Yamê is a Cameroonian artist who built a complete universe around his album Ebêm: short film, lore, exclusive content. At Studio 9P, I modeled all the 3D environments for the experience website, coordinating my work with studio Mathematics to ensure our environments told the same story as the film.

Context & intention

Project completed at Studio 9P. Yamê wanted an experience website allowing users to freely explore the universe of his album Ebêm, following his avatar on a motorcycle through various landscapes — desert, forest, palace — in visual coherence with the short film produced by studio Mathematics. Under the art direction of Hugo Maury (senior AD), I handled the 3D modeling of all the sets and scene objects in Blender, as well as texturing in collaboration with Hugo. The motorcycle, the only asset I did not model, was provided.

Process & production

I modeled all 3D elements, from the ground to the birds, across the four universes of the site: the desert, the forest, the king's temple, and the ocean. The process followed three stages: brainstorming on the elements to illustrate for each section, generating visual references on Midjourney by Hugo, then modeling in Blender with synchronization through Blender's Object Data Linking system. The complexity of the project also lay in its coordination: studio Mathematics was developing the short film in parallel, which meant many visual directions remained unclear until late in the process. We had to keep moving on the sets while staying aligned with a universe that was still evolving at the same time.
